Welcome to the 1st Newsletter
of the European Joint Action on Vaccination!

2019 will see the first concrete achievements of the EU-Joint Action on Vaccination.

This is a crucial year for our common project, which should contribute to operationalize many objectives of the EU council recommendation adopted in December 2018.

Vaccine hesitancy is ranked as one of the top 10 health threats by the World Health Organization in 2019. Measles outbreaks are still underway. Vaccine-preventable diseases remain a big threat for humanity, while immunisation can protect health throughout life and across borders.

The work program of the EU-Joint Action on Vaccination aims at strengthening cooperation between European countries to fight vaccine-preventable diseases, involving 20 partners (17 member states, and 3 associated countries) and many organisations as stakeholders.

In 2019, we will start delivering concrete tools for integration in national programmes.

These concrete tools will cover a wide range of needs to accelerate the fight against vaccine-preventable diseases and will enable this large cooperation to share experiences and good practices.

Together, we want to monitor vaccination coverage more accurately, to improve forecasting of vaccine stocks and systems for the prevention of shortages, to set priorities for research and development on vaccination, and to enhance the public confidence in vaccination.

All related-activities of the work packages are now up and running, thanks to the highly engaged leaders and the members of all working groups.

This commitment of the whole community of the Joint Action on Vaccination makes us ambassadors for global health as a common good.
